Alex and Laila, or just myself?

Alex and Laila expressions

We all are both Alex and Laila. Sometimes a bit more like Alex, other times a bit more like Laila

When I first wrote the book I didn’t really realise how much of myself is part of it. As you know I wrote Click!’s first draft out of pure inspiration, and I then reworked it with Andrea later on. At all time my focus was on creating a great children’s story, that could inspire imagination making learning enjoyable. That what it was all about. Or at least, that’s what I thought.

Few days ago, in fact, I’ve realised that both Alex and Laila, Click!’s main characters, are like 2 sides of myself. Alex gets excited easily and jumps with enthusiasm on any new adventure. He’s free from fear and just want to have lot of fun. Exactly like myself. Laila, instead, is a bit more hesitating. She likes the adventure, but she wouldn’t go ahead unless she has all under control, or if there isn’t anyone supporting her. Just like myself too, at times 🙂

Alex and Laila reminds me that inside all of us always live 2 “characters”: one really mind free, and another a bit more apprehensive. This isn’t really something I come to realise now (hey, I work also as life coach!), but it amazes me the fact I didn’t really see it until now. And it amazes me even more discovering how much of myself I project on anything I do, without even knowing it.

Anyway, I’m off now: I want to read the story again, and who knows what I gonna find out next! I’ll keep you posted.

Inspiration is everywhere, you just need to be open to it. I was commuting on the tube as usual, but that day something extraordinary happened. Listening to some kids laughing about travelling in London, a funny thought came to mind, and few hours later Click! was born.
